Non-Profit Feature:  The YMCA

The YMCA has been a part of the Wausau community since the first facility was built in 1893.  As of 2020, the Y reported just over 13,000 members.  Their programs, services, and initiatives enable kids to realize their potential, prepare teens for leadership, offer ways for families to have fun together, and empower people to be healthier in spirit, mind and body.  Their core values of Caring, Honesty, Responsibility and Respect are instilled throughout the Y’s programs.

People come to the Y to learn, have fun and get fit. But they soon discover skills, confidence, a sense of well-being, and a connection to the world around them. You can find a gym, swimming pool, or a treadmill in lots of places but it is their cause that makes the Y different – they really do strengthen the foundation of our community.

Volunteer-founded and volunteer-led, YMCAs are for people of all faiths, races, ages, abilities and incomes. Their mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Over 20 percent of their membership base is served by financial assistance.  Ruder Ware’s donation will be directed to the scholarship fund so that our community members can benefit from Y programs, regardless of their ability to pay the fees.
