Having started his career as in-house counsel, Jordan learned early to think not only like a lawyer but also as a businessperson. As a result, he takes a uniquely practical approach to solving legal issues.
He began his career clerking on a tropical island for the Supreme Court of the Northern Marianas Islands, a US jurisdiction best known for its pivotal role in the Pacific theater during World War II. He then served as in-house counsel to international finance and real-estate companies, where he financed, acquired, developed, leased, and managed commercial and residential real estate across the US, Asia, and Europe.
With Ruder Ware, Jordan advises individuals, businesses, financial institutions, and residential associations. In addition to general business matters, his practice areas include securities; finance; mergers and acquisitions; and real-estate acquisition, leasing, development, and management.
His recent work includes helping clients:
- Raise funds from investors through private placements (i.e., private securities offering) to capitalize a luxury liquor retailer; acquire multi-family apartments across the Sun Belt, purchase storage-unit facilities around northeast Wisconsin, and develop vacant land adjacent to a high-end golf course into a townhouse community in the Pacific Northwest.
- Acquire a family-owned cheese manufacturer, purchase a tavern up north, sell a medical practice to a hospital system, and sell a manufacturing division to a private equity firm.
- Issue a construction loan for a prominent real-estate development in the Fox Cities, a line of credit to a hard-money lender, and private loans to real-estate developers.
- Buy, sell, and lease office buildings; and develop commercial real estate.
- Create condominium and HOA governance documents (such as declarations, bylaws, and rules and regulations) and handle day-to-day association matters.
- Form entities, including creating bylaws and shareholder agreements for corporations and operating agreements for single-member and multi-member LLCs.
When not in the office, Jordan loves (and, sometimes, hates) to play golf. When he’s not on the links, he can usually be found watching sports or with his nose in a book.
