Have You Received a Notice From The IRS?

Did you receive a notice from the IRS this year? Every year the IRS sends millions of letters and notices to taxpayers. There are various reasons the IRS sends notices to taxpayers. For example, the notice may request payment of taxes, notify you of a proposed deficiency of taxes or a change to your account, or request additional information. Each letter and notice offers guidance to a taxpayer on how to satisfy the request from the IRS. If you receive a correction notice, you should review the IRS’s correspondence and compare it with the information on your return.
If you do not agree with a correction the IRS has made, it is important that you respond to the IRS as requested. Most often, a written correspondence explaining the reason you do not agree with the IRS s correction is appropriate.
