Federal Income Tax Filing Deadline Extended to July 15

March 20, 2020

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin announced via Twitter that the tax filing deadline for federal income tax returns has been extended by 90 days to July 15, 2020.

Earlier this week, the federal government extended the time for individuals and businesses to pay their federal income tax by 90 days, but did not extend the filing deadline for tax returns.  We now have confirmation that the filing deadline will also be extended.

We expect most states to follow the federal government and extend the time to file and pay state income taxes, but we do not have confirmation of those extensions at this time.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
